Rhys Millen, who was born in New Zealand, is the nephew of IMAS GTS driver Steve Millen, son of Rod Millen and the elder brother of Ryan Millen, is the top competitor in drifting. Before that, he was a rally driver in the US, and became the first works backed driver from a car manufacturer with General Motors in 2004 after narrowly losing to Ken Nomura in the US D1 Grand Prix exhibition event in the year 2003.
Being unsucessful in rallying, he switched to drifting after his second season, he started winning championships, 2 in total. His major sponsors are Red Bull and Pontiac Motor Company. This year, Pontiac withdrew and Hyundai took over, sponsoring him with a Hyundai Genesis.
